How care works in Prince Edward Island.
Prince Edward Island's publicly funded home-care supports are coordinated by Health PEI, operating under the Department of Health and Wellness. We serve families and facilities alongside that system in every county on the island.
- Queens County — Charlottetown, Stratford, Cornwall
- Prince County — Summerside, Kensington, Alberton, Tignish
- Kings County — Montague, Souris, Georgetown
Registered nurses, nurse practitioners and licensed practical nurses working in PEI are regulated by the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island (CRNM-PEI) and the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of PEI.
Publicly funded home care is delivered through Health PEI's Home Care program; private agencies work alongside it to supplement hours, provide live-in care and cover respite periods.
Information above describes the public regulatory and home-care landscape in Prince Edward Island. Xtreme Care Services is a private agency that works alongside these programs.
