How care works in Newfoundland & Labrador.
Across Newfoundland and Labrador, public home-care services are delivered by Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS), the single health authority formed in April 2023 by merging the four previous regional health authorities. We staff and support families across both the island and Labrador.
- Avalon Peninsula — St. John's, Mount Pearl, Paradise, Conception Bay South
- Central NL — Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, Clarenville
- Western NL — Corner Brook, Stephenville, Deer Lake
- Labrador — Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador City, Wabush
RNs and NPs practising in Newfoundland and Labrador are regulated by the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL); LPNs are regulated by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL).
NLHS funds a Home Support Program and a Supportive Living Program under the Long-Term Care and Community Support Services (LTC-CSS) model. Independent agencies, including ours, supplement that capacity.
